The fundamental stage in the reconstruction of the so-called Vlárská dráha, crucial for the transport services in Slovácko, has brought not only modernization and improvement of railway transport safety in the Central and Eastern Moravia, but also improved the comfort of many passengers.

The project scope was a complete reconstruction of the railway station Veselí nad Moravou with the aim to increase the speed of trains, to improve passenger safety and comfort when accessing trains and to increase railway safety by installing a new signaling system which allows remote control of technological equipment of the railway infrastructure.

Thanks to the reconstruction, the speed increased from 70 km/h to 80 km/h, new lighting of the station and the platform area was installed and a new transformer station was built. Roughly 8 km of rails, the platforms at the station building, as well as the island platforms, 2 bridge structures, and 1 railway crossing were reconstructed in the station. Furthermore, a substructure rehabilitation and a superstructure reconstruction were carried out.

The project also included the reconstruction of stations and stops along the track to meet the needs of people with impaired physical mobility.

The complete reconstruction and modernization of this important railway branch of Slovácko with connecting lines to Slovakia has thus contributed to the improvement of the Brno suburban transport.
